Hi,
I've been going to Harbin since about 1998, although I haven't been there for a long time now. I love it there! I'd like to find out more information about becoming a Harbin resident and if there are always openings available. I'm stuck in an apt. in Hayward, CA and I'm pretty isolated without friends or family here. I'm trying to find a job but it's a tough world out there and I'm almost 55 (in Dec.).
Thanks for any advice.
Ann

Re: seeking more information about becoming a Harbin resident
Mon, November 2, 2009 - 1:01 AMProbably the best way is to talk to other residents about how it works. Next time you're up there, ask around and see what you can find out. Or, um, just call the Harbin office and ask? -

Re: seeking more information about becoming a Harbin resident
Mon, November 2, 2009 - 11:28 AMHi Ann,
The best thing to do is contact Human Resources. You can call and request a residency application mailed to you (which may or may not happen) or you can download the PDF at: harbin.org/resident.htm
Either way, don't expect a response unless there's an immediate opening and you've got some kind of amazing skills they want/need. Last I heard, there was a waiting list. Applying in the spring might give you better odds of even hearing back from HR, let alone being accepted as a resident.
Good luck! -

Re: seeking more information about becoming a Harbin resident
Wed, November 11, 2009 - 7:24 AMann, i work in hayward and i think it is a very depressing place. if you are feeling down, i think it could make you feel even downer. even if you don't move to harbin, you should move! i live in sf, i am very sick of city living, but i am always relieved to enter the city after a day in hayward. -

Wed, November 11, 2009 - 8:58 AMHi,
thanks for your message. I agree with you, I think my surroundings in Hayward have quite a bit to do with my being depressed. I do hope to move back to sf in the future. the people over there seem much more friendly.
I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. I hope that you have a nice day!
